Background
In June 2020 UN Water produced the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework for SDG 6, part and parcel of the broader SDG Acceleration Actions. Key acceleration actions include building on existing successful efforts and providing access to additional information on such actions. Sustainable Development Goal 6 on water and sanitation is an ambitious framework containing eight targets and 11 indicators, of which many are relatively new. Together, the indicators and targets capture the water cycle in its entirety, providing a 360 ⁰ overview of progress in the sector. In the current country led phase of SDG 6 the focus lies on building the national ownership of this agenda. For each target, there are examples of countries and subnational entities which have achieved significant and noteworthy progress, and it is important to document, analyse and share these good practices as a key action in support of accelerated implementation.
UN Habitat has taken the initiative to document two significant and instructive cases which we would like to present and discuss in this online webinar and discussion
